Niseko is renowned as a premier ski and snowboarding destination but is becoming a year-round destination for people wanting to experience Japanese nature while enjoying luxurious surroundings. The Yoichi region nearby is a new powerhouse of Japanese natural wine, made famous by acclaimed restaurant Noma. Wineries such as Domaine Takahiko and Domaine Mont are creating a buzz as Japanese wines hit the international market.
Over the course of this trip, you’ll get to experience the famous farm to table ethos, as well as fresh seafood from nearby waters.
Your arrival day will be a relaxed affair. After settling in and having a private onsen bath, you can visit the picturesque Niseko Distillery for whisky tasting. In the evening, you’ll head out for an izakaya dinner in town.
Your guide will pick you up and take you for a mountain hike and picnic with a bento lunch provided by chef Juri of J’ai La Patate fame. Dinner will be at J’ai La Patate where you can enjoy the best of local vegetables.
Today your guide will take you on a cycling tour of the renowned wineries of the region. Enjoy lunch and wine tasting at one of the wineries. Dinner will include a pairing of Japanese wines.
Private transport will take you to Chitose Airport where you will have one last chance to sample a wide range of Japanese delicacies to bring back home. Chitose Airport has the best food court in Japan and is a destination in and of itself.
YOICHI
Yoichi has been alpine skiing since he was a child. From the age of 30, he has been living at the foot of Hirafu Ski Resort in Kutchan, Niseko, as a ski guide and photographer. He has skied and photographed in North America, South America, Oceania, Scandinavia, Europe, and Japan.
During the off-season, he enjoys mountain bike riding on forest roads and trails. Currently, he spends his days on a road bike exploring the beautiful scenery of the Niseko area.
