Bio
Takaya was born in Saitama Prefecture in 1974. After he graduated from high school, he moved to Hokkaido. While enjoying Canadian canoeing, sea kayaking, telemark skiing, and fly fishing, he was inspired by the unique climate of the Nemuro region in eastern Hokkaido and decided to settle there. In 2021, Takaya opened “OUTLAND” in Betsukai-cho, Nemuro region. He spends his days hunting Ezo deer and rowing canoes while living with his six horses and pet dog on a former farm site.
Message
The Nemuro region, located in the easternmost part of Hokkaido, is a land that has been hindered by a cool climate and vast wetlands, which have long impeded human development. We hope that you can enjoy your time in this vast wilderness by interacting with canoes and horses at a leisurely pace.
