Activities by OCEAN ATHLETE in the sea of Okinawa, one of the world's top coral reefs

Bio

In the year 2000, Kosuke relocated to Okinawa main island and gained experience as a surfing and diving guide. It was through stand-up paddleboarding (SUP) that he became captivated by the vastness of the open ocean and found his identity in traversing the sea. He participated in the world's most challenging open ocean race, known as the Kaiwi Channel Crossing, held in Hawaii. Since then, Kosuke has been crossing the islands of Hawaii and Okinawa using SUP, sailing, and traditional sabani boats. As an OCEAN ATHLETE, Kosuke participates in various activities such as surfing, SUP, foilboarding, wingfoiling, and triathlons. Alongside these pursuits, he organizes sustainable events that allow children to engage with the sea and nature, providing opportunities for learning and growth. Through these experiences and activities, Kosuke strives to inspire others to connect with the ocean and live in harmony with nature. It is his passion to create sustainable events that foster a love for the sea and a sense of environmental responsibility among the younger generation.

Guide Q&A

Q: What is your most memorable experience in nature?

When I crossed the Kaiwi Channel, spanning approximately 60km from Molokai Island to Oahu Island, I was in the middle of the Pacific Ocean with nothing but myself. It made me keenly aware of my own helplessness and instilled in me a renewed respect for nature. It profoundly impacted my life and brought about significant changes thereafter.

Q: What does nature represent to you?

It is a place where you can be yourself and a place to learn.

Q: What has nature taught you?

Be kind to people. Nature is finite.

Q: What do you hope that people will get out of experiences with you as a guide?

I want you to experience the joy of moving your body and to fully engage all your senses in feeling the energy from the ocean and connecting with nature.
