Meet at Shizu and embark on a spiritual journey: walk the Genkai Ancient Trail, purify under the Waterfall, and reach Yudono Mountain.
Minimum age of 10 years old. Must be able to climb mountains without problems.
Yamabushi clothing can be rented. (A cleaning fee of 5,000 yen is required.) Athletic shoes (Tabi Shoes are acceptable), rain gear, warm clothes (light down, etc., as the temperature can drop considerably depending on the weather), backpack (to stuff your own belongings), towel, gloves (army gloves, etc.), portable food (bread, candy, chocolate, etc.), water bottle and drink (please bring tea and water), flashlight Electric light, sleeping clothes (jersey, etc.)
You can take a rest at the Tsutaya ryokan in Shizu Onsen. Overnight stay before or after the tour is also possible. (extra charge).
By Bus, around 1hr 45 mins from Yamagata Station Use Highway Bus from JR Yamagata Station Take the highway bus bound for "Tsuruoka/Sakata" from the bus stop #1 at the east exit of Yamagata Station. → 1. get off at Gassan Exit → pick up and drop off (reservation required) → Get off at Nishikawa bus stop. Walk (1 minute) from Nishikawa IC bus stop, transfer to Nishikawa Town bus bound for "Ubasawa" and get off at Shizu Onsen bus stop. Arrive at Tsutaya in 2 minutes on foot. By car, around 1 hour from Yamagata Station
