About

The Hachimantai area is blessed with some of the best dry powder in Tohoku. The area around Daikoku Mori, which once flourished as part of the Hachimantai ski resort, is still a special place favored by powder freaks, and it’s the area we will explore. Since 2018, local guides and Hachimantai City have collaborated to offer a CAT service. On this experience, you get access to a dedicated snowcat for a full day of powder riding. This allows us to select slopes according to your skiing level and the conditions of the day. There is basically no hiking involved, so even those who are not confident in their physical fitness can participate in this experience instead of this hybrid CAT and hiking experience. Enjoy the luxury of skiing and snowboarding in Hachimantai, a mecca for powder snow.

Itinerary

8:30 a.m. Gather at Clubman Clubhouse, registration, equipment check, introduction 9:00 a.m. Depart Clubman Clubhouse 9:30 a.m. CAT & RIDE TOUR 2:00 p.m. Tour ends 2:30 p.m. Return to Clubman Clubhouse, After Break, Dismissal

Requirements

・ Junior high school students and older (*Junior high school students must be accompanied by a parent or guardian) ・ Intermediate level or higher in both skiing and snowboarding ・ Experienced in deep snow skiing *We will ask you about your level in advance.

Equipment

◆ Riding gear:.　 Ski (Alpine, Telemark, AT) *Recommended ski center width 85mm or more.　 Powder ski rental available for a fee. ・Snowboard (*Splitboard is recommended) ◆ Required equipment　 Avalanche beacon, shovel, probe, backpack, hiking gear (stickers, snowshoes), poles with powder ring, helmet ◆ Food and beverages: Enough to replenish energy during rest stops. ◆ Lunch will be served at the CAT base rest area. By Car: 5 minutes from Matsuo-Hachimantai IC on Tohoku Expressway toward Hachimantai Summit. Free parking is available. By train 15 minutes by car from Hiradate Station on the Iwate Ginga Railway Hanawa Line from Morioka Station (free shuttle service is available).
