About
Tenkara fishing is a traditional Japanese fishing technique that has been practiced since ancient times.Tenkara fishing uses a bird's feather or other feathers (known as a hair hook) wrapped around the hook to catch wild and rock fish. Recently, it has started to gain popularity outside of Japan as well. The only tools used are a rod, line, and a hair hook. The simplicity of the equipment makes it easy for beginners and those with less physical strength. Nikko in Tochigi Prefecture has its own unique culture called Nikko tenkara, and is the only place in Japan where a river has been created specifically for tenkara fishing so that even beginners can enjoy tenkara fishing. In this tour, you will experience making tenkara hooks and actually try fishing for wild and healthy fish in beautiful mountain streams with the hooks you have made.
